Buffalo Bill Days - Lanesboro Biggest Celebration

Lanesboro puts together an annual festival as an ode to Buffalo Bill Cody who visited Lanesboro and his friend White Beaver in the late 1800’s. While here, they got the idea to start his Wild West shows and it is said put of the first of them, right here in town. Buffalo Bill Days consists of booths, softball and sand volleyball tournaments, a street dance, fireworks, and a fantastic Sunday parade.

Paul Schmidt (Schmidt Farm) is an organic farmer that lives on the east edge of Forestville. Ryan Palmer is the owner of the Root River Inn and Suites in Lanesboro. Jeff Sanders is the owner/operator of Bluffscape Amish Tours in Lanesboro. The three met at an open mic in Lanesboro in 2021 and all share the same passion for creating good, local music and supporting local endeavors.

Fine art and fine craft artist booths encircle Sylvan Park underneath canopies of shade, featuring a wide variety of artist-made work by over 90 artists from the tri-state region. Artwork last year included paintings, photography, fine jewelry, textile rugs & quilts, hand thrown ceramics, stained glass, original paintings, blown & fused glass sculptures, artworks utilizing reclaimed wood, stoneware clay pottery, metalwork, woven baskets, whimsical welded yard art, and more.

Rhubarb Festival

The Minnesota State Legislature recognized Lanesboro as the Rhubarb Capital of Minnesota by proclamation in 2008.

The heart of the festival takes place in Sylvan Park in downtown Lanesboro. Start by browsing the Lanesboro Farmers Market where you'll find all the in-season spring vegetables and other local delights. Then enjoy the fun-filled festival entertainment and food, plus try your hand at the free rhubarb games and contests. Great prizes for all events! Stay in town and check out our local merchants, and all the town has to offer.

Other free entertainment includes a rhubarb fashion show (you can be in it),goat chill out , and Rhub-Art opportunities. Music fills the park the entire day so bring your lawn chair and enjoy it all! This year music is provided by a variety of local rhubarb-lovin' musicians.

Vendors provide opportunities to purchase additional rhubarb treats and products.

Maneuver 30 feet in the air through a series of towers connected by various cables, ropes, and log events!

Do this all while enjoying the best view of SE Minnesota! This confidence building experience is great for family outings, reunions, scouts, youth groups, and individuals.

Pre-registration and moderate physical ability are required. Online ticket sales end once the event starts. Walk-in registration is accepted when space is available.

The course itself presents a safe atmosphere that encourages participants to recognize and conquer their fears (while having a blast!).

Experiencing success on the course is a powerful experience with a lasting effect! While our instructors are there to ensure your safety and help/encourage you to complete the course, you will not be asked to do anything you aren’t physically able/willing to do.

34th Annual Lipmaster's rough fish fishing tournment. Carp, white sucker, and red horse; a fish anyone can catch with a worm and a pole!

Registration starts at 11am at Nordic Lanes in Rushford ($6 entry fee for all ages), shotgun start at noon, and weigh in at 5pm at Nordic Lanes.

Fishing boundaries include the Root River between Houston and Lanesboro.

Tournament is open to all ages, geared towards family fun and the beginning of spring.

Multiple cash payouts for largest carp and largest sucker along with payouts for kids entries (13 and under).

2022 Peterson Summer Music Series at the historic bandstand in Peterson, MN. — 2022 Peterson Summer Music Series at the historic bandstand in Peterson, MN. —Squirrel Tail is a group of musicians from Iowa and Minnesota, who have been involved in music for many years, and are promoters of bluegrass.

They have enjoyed performing at area festivals, town celebrations and other venues in the area. A variety of instruments are played during performances by each musician, as time for switching places allows; mandolin, fiddle, guitar, banjo, dobro slide guitar, and upright bass are all included, along with an occasional train whistle! All members also sing, taking turns singing lead and harmony. The band's main focus is on traditional bluegrass and old country music, but includes some new bluegrass selections and Country Gospel, as well as an old rock & roll tune or two, done with a bluegrass flair, of course!

Bring your own seating. Hot dogs, brats and refreshments are available. In case of rain, the concert will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 365 Park Street, Peterson, MN
